Since we live in an area where rice is delicious, our breakfast is rice and miso soup every morning.
A rice cooker is a very convenient home appliance that allows you to set a timer and enjoy freshly cooked rice in the morning, but there are other rice cookers that make the rice even more delicious.
Do you have any rice cooking utensils that you are curious about?
Kamado-san (NAGATANI-EN)
I would like to introduce you to my family’s proud rice cooker.
“Kamado-san” is an earthenware pot for cooking rice. This is amazing!
It’s easy and the taste of the rice is on another level!
- Add the polished rice and an appropriate amount of water to the pot.
- Heat the stove to medium-high heat.
- After about 10 minutes, steam will rise vigorously.
- Wait about 1 minute and turn off the flame.
- After 20 minutes, it’s ready.
This product was developed with the aim of producing rice that tastes like it was cooked in a Kamado-stove.
The secret behind the deliciousness of “Kamado-san”
(1) Thick molding
The direct fire part has a thick molded finish. It stores heat well and transmits it gently, so you can cook without adjusting the heat. It also has excellent heat retention ability.(2) Double lid
The double lid prevents boiling over and also functions as a pressure cooker.(3) Glaze
We use a glaze that is highly effective in far infrared rays. The heat penetrates to the core of the rice, making it fluffy and cooked.(4) Iga’s coarse soil
From Nagatani-en official website
Made of coarse clay that is unique to Iga, it breathes in the same way as an earthenware pot does with a wooden ohitsu. The rice won’t be sticky.
If you put it on the table as it is, it becomes a painting.
What’s more, you can also boil eggs on the inner lid at the same time!
…But I don’t use it every day.
Why doesn’t it appear every day?
- Keep an eye on it while cooking
- heavy
- difficult to wash
- it looks like it’s going to break
- No storage space in the kitchen
When I suddenly remembered it, it appeared from the storeroom, and for a while I was fascinated by the deliciousness of the rice.
However, as we get used to the taste, the weight eventually becomes a problem and it returns to the storeroom.
However, among the rice cookers I have used so far, the taste is outstanding !
By the way, Nagatani-en sells parts. I was in trouble because the top lid was missing, but they sold me just the top lid!
Rice-cooker (UNIFRAME)
When the electric rice cooker I had been using for over 10 years broke, I decided to cook rice in an outdoor rice cooker that I had in my storage room for some reason.
The gas stove in the kitchen has a “rice cooking mode,” so I decided to cook rice on the gas stove.
This is very easy; all you have to do is wash the rice, add an appropriate amount of water, let it soak, and then ignite it. The sensor at the bottom of the pot reacts and automatically adjusts the heat.
Once the fire goes out, let it steam for about 10 minutes and it’s done.
All at once with high heat
To cook delicious rice, bring it to a boil all at once over high heat.
To do this, in the case of a pot, it is important that the lid does not rise (=heat at high pressure). If the lid lifts up, the pressure will drop and the temperature will escape.
The Kamado-san mentioned earlier is also in charge here!
Uniframe’s rice cooker is made of aluminum, which has high heat conductivity, and is thick, so the temperature tends to rise quickly. The lid is also designed to prevent it from lifting up.
The rice cooked in this rice cooker always runs out quickly. Children eat it a lot.
The belief that cooking with gas tastes better
The Uniflame rice cooker cooks delicious rice, but I had a problem with it not being able to keep it warm. Also, the lack of a timer function is inconvenient.
When installing a washer/dryer (gas), I was told that adding a gas cock would reduce the cost, so I decided to take this opportunity to install a gas rice cooker.
Based on my experience with the Uniflame rice cooker, I have come to believe that cooking with gas is better. And electric rice cookers these days are too expensive !
There are multi-functional gas rice cookers, but like electric rice cookers, they seem to be over-specified and cost-effective .
I chose “Kogamaru” which is simple, delicious, keeps warm, and has a timer function.
Kogamaru (RINNAI)
Kogamaru is a rice cooker specialized for cooking rice.
It’s simple, delicious, keeps warm, and has a timer function.
I don’t care about looks!
It has a simple structure that does what the Uniframe rice cooker does on a gas stove inside the rice cooker.
So(!?), it’s delicious enough!
Having a timer function and being able to keep warm is usually convenient.
No more functionality is needed.
The happiness of being able to eat delicious rice every day.
Have a rice day!
