How do you make time to invest in yourself?
Most people living in the countryside/in their 40s/office workers wake up early in the morning without an alarm to start their day.
It’s often misunderstood, but just because you live in the countryside doesn’t mean time moves slowly .
There’s so much to do, both at work and at home, that it seems like there’s never free time.
Is it the same for people in the city?
Even if I live a leisurely life, I still want to take time for self-improvement.
They say you should make good use of your free time, but that’s a bit different.
adult timetable
I know I just have to stick to my plan each day.
I’m in trouble because I can’t do that .
In the first place, it is difficult to make a plan every day.
For such people, I recommend “Timetable”.
Adding the word “adult” to the word gives it a nostalgic and unpleasant sound.
Fall 2023 timetable
I don’t like making a daily schedule , so I make a “timetable” instead.
When I look back on my life, I find that there is a general pattern, and when I break it up, it is divided into 10 frames for me.
classification | Starting of work | End of work | time | Work days (5 days a week) | Days off (2 days a week) |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
early morning | 4:30 | 7:15 | 2 hours 45 minutes | free | free |

Night ③ | 21:30 | 4:30 | 7 hours | Going to bed | Going to bed |
Since I work on Saturdays and Sundays, I have two days off during weekdays, and my children are not home on my days off.
I think you have a lot of time on your hands.
365 days x 24 hours = 8760 hours
Including commuting time, 3,000 hours (34.2%) are spent at work .
Sleep time was 7 hours a day, 2500 hours (28.5%) .
The remaining 3260 hours (37.2%) is spent with family and myself .
According to the autumn 2023 timetable,
- 5 days a week: 2 hours and 45 minutes of early morning free time.
- 2 days a week: 9 hours and 30 minutes of free time per day.
On a daily basis, 12 hours and 15 minutes per week . 637 hours in one year.
There are more than I thought.
So what happened to my free time?
I don’t think you’re interested in other people’s timetables, but I’d like to share with you how I use my free time.
- blog
- Shopping for ingredients and daily necessities
- free time housework
- spice curry
- Hobby cooking (coffee roasting, cookies, bread)
- stretching and exercise
- reading
- Watching movies and dramas
blog
Preparations will start from September 2023.
Posted every day from October 1st to 31st, 2023.
After that, I will post at a pace of 5 posts a week. Aim for 300 books in one year!
It takes a lot of time to write articles, and the pace is inconsistent.
I managed to maintain my weekly pace by using a chunk of time on my days off.
Shopping for ingredients and daily necessities
About 2 hours once a week.
free time housework
Some of the daily household chores such as washing dishes, doing laundry, cooking, caring for chickens, and harvesting vegetables.
I’m not good at cleaning and won’t do seasonal housework unless told to do so.
I need to put away the fan quickly.
spice curry
On my day off, I make three meals for my work lunch.
Along with making dinner etc.
Hobby cooking (coffee roasting, cookies, bread)
I roast coffee about 3 times a month.
Others when I think of it.
stretching and exercise
Stretch for about 10 minutes before going to bed.
I used to do split leg stretches and HIIT training, but I don’t do them anymore!
I want to start exercising to get rid of the fat around my stomach.
reading
I’ve been keeping 5 to 10 books a month, but lately I haven’t had time to read them because I’m competing for time with my blog.
Watching movies and dramas
About a taiga drama and one serial drama.
There was a time when I watched movies and foreign dramas on Netflix, but I didn’t think it was a very effective use of my time. Kill time. I don’t have time to kill right now.
Let’s make a timetable
Instead of managing your daily schedule, create a “timetable” that allows you to take a look at your own life patterns .
If you try it, you will find that there are breaks between work days and holidays, and you will notice the times when you tend to concentrate better and the trends in how you use your time.
Tips for creating a timetable
- You can start with the ideal
- It doesn’t have to be correct
- The duration of each frame does not have to be equal.
- Don’t fill your free time with tasks
- It can change depending on the season
- You don’t have to be tied down just because you created it.
Points to consider after making
- Where do you find free time?
- What time of day is it easy/difficult to concentrate?
- Are there any time patterns in which you are more prone to sleepiness or temptation?
- Is the accuracy of estimating the time required for a fixed task accurate?
Always useful once
Once you create a timetable, you will be able to complete it.
It’s not something you have to continue.
It will be useful at least once while you are creating it , and it will be useful again when the time comes to revisit it.
This is a recommended option for people who are not good at managing schedules but want to do something to make time for themselves.
Have a nice day!
